55+ Registration Deadline Extended
For all those fence sitters, you now have another two weeks to sign up for the 55+ games with our deadline being extended to August 11. For those of you who are just hearing about the games for the first time, check out this website or our Facebook site and learn more. There are 25 sport/activity competitions being held over 3 days from September 13-16 throughout Lunenburg County. The games winners will have the opportunity to represent Nova Scotia the National 55+ Games in Saint John, NB in 2018.
The 2017 games will follow the theme of Fun, Fitness and Friendship and will include an active Senior/Healthy Senior health fair on the Thursday of the event, pop-up cafes on Friday and Saturday, an opening ceremony and a closing banquet all including local food and entertainment.
There is something for everyone. Combine this with Lunenburg County hospitality and you should have a “right some good time” in Lunenburg County.

55+ Games, Not Just Sports
Co-chairs of the Nova Scotia 55+ Games 2017 Lunenburg County want everyone to know that the upcoming games are much more than just sports. First of all the motto of the games in Fun, Fitness and Friendship and although the games are competitions, socialization is also a priority.
The non-sport events include 45s, contract bridge, skip bo, scrabble, duplicate bridge and cribbage. The NS 55+ Games will be held in Lunenburg County from September 13 – 16. Other events included that bring the total events to 25 are curling, track and field, 8-ball, ladies, soccer, darts, shuffleboard, washer-toss, men’s and ladies hockey, horseshoes, swimming, mountain biking, tennis, pickleball, golf, badminton, 5 and 10k runs and bowling.
